Leslie joined The Georgetown Project as Program Director in June 2000, following a long career with a statewide nonprofit in Austin. She moved into the Executive Director role in April 2010. Leslie blends 28 years of nonprofit management and program development experience with a small-town upbringing—complementary perspectives for a community-based organization like The Georgetown Project dedicated to engaging adults in every-day healthy connections with children and youth. Leslie oversees all operations, and performs grant writing, grant management and evaluation for TGP programs, including ASAP, Assets In Action, Bridges to Growth, Community Interaction Partnership, Kid City and The NEST. She leads The Georgetown Project Collaborative for Children & Youth, develops community resources and program partnerships, spearheads fundraising efforts, works with a 24-member board of directors and enjoys a full Developmental Assets training schedule. Leslie was raised in Coleman, TX, where her ancestors have lived for over a century. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, with a minor in Political Science, from Texas A&M University, where she met her husband I.G., who was raised in Elgin. Leslie has lived in Williamson County for 35 years (29 in Georgetown). She and I.G. have two sons, Sam (a 2006 Georgetown High School graduate and 2010 Angelo State University graduate) and George (a Georgetown High School graduate). Leslie says the work of The Georgetown Project, and especially the 40 Developmental Assets, speaks to her heart, and provides a unique opportunity to be proactive in creating a better community for all Georgetown kids.
