Kristen joined the Georgetown Project in July 2018 as the Intake Coordinator at the NEST Empowerment Center. In August 2019, she transitioned to the role of Grants and Evaluations Manager for TGP. Kristen grew up in Georgetown and went on to earn a Bachelors of Sociology at Texas Christian University and a Masters in Social Work at Columbia University. She has a diverse range of experiences with youth including summer and after school enrichment, juvenile services, and working with young adults in an acute psychiatric care setting. Her husband, Chef Nelson, teaches Culinary Arts at Texas State Technical College in Hutto. Kristen is the proud stepmom to two teens who attend Georgetown schools. She loves yoga, walking, and empowering young people to practice the tools of whole-hearted living.
