ESL Level III: Fall 2023
For adults only
13 Week IN PERSON Session; Thursdays, starting September 14 – December 14, 2023, 10:30am-11:30am
ESL – Level III
Language Proficiency Level – 3/4
Course Description: Prepares ESL students to communicate in familiar jobs, life-skill, or social situations. Students read short texts using simple context clues and decoding skills and write short paragraphs edited for basic grammar and spelling.
Materials/Textbook: Howard, Lori, Read All About It Book 2, Oxford University Press
NOTE: Class information will be emailed a few days before the class date. Registration will be required.

If you would like to attend multiple or all classes but don’t want to fill out the registration information multiple times on Eventbrite, feel free to register for just one session, and then email us the other dates that you’d like to register for at alondra@georgetownproject.org and we can add you on our end.
Language Proficiency Levels:
0 – No proficiency. At this point, no absolute knowledge of the language
1 – Elementary proficiency, you can form basic sentences, including asking and answering simple questions.
2 – Limited Working Proficiency At this level, you can handle basic commands and limited casual conversations. You still need help with more complex conversations.
3 – Professional Working Proficiency you can make contributions to meetings and hold conversations with customers or clients. You probably still need help understanding more subtle use of the grammar of present and past tense.
4 – Full Professional Proficiency you can have advanced discussions on a wide range of topics like personal life, current events, and technical topics related to your field. You may occasionally misspeak or make minor mistakes, but your vocabulary is extensive, and you can carry on conversations with ease.
