Making the Most of Your Read Aloud with NAEYC’s Before, During and After Routine!

Using the Before, During and After Read Aloud routine from the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), participants will learn how they can organically embed foundational skills such as print knowledge, vocabulary, comprehension and phonological awareness into their read aloud. The routine outlines specific things that teachers can do before reading the book, during book reading and after reading the book that will help young children build the emergent literacy skills they need to become successful readers in the future. This routine is a game changer for teachers who want instruction during read aloud time to become more intentional!
