Learn about developing high quality outdoor learning environments for early childhood.

This class will take place online on Zoom. Please see the FAQ below for more information.

Join Kristin Miller, M.Ed, to learn how to enhance your outdoor learning space!

Every child loves the outdoors! In early childhood programs, they need an outdoor space to play, explore, create, and engage. This training session will prepare early educators to identify areas of their outdoor environments for high quality improvement. We will discuss high quality standards and guidelines, supervision, planning both unstructured play moments and engaging teacher-led activities for children to play outdoors, and create ideas to enhance the outdoor environment with extended learning opportunities to include natural play spaces for children. To end this session, participants will problem solve scenarios of teacher-child interactions during outdoor playtime and enjoy coming up with conversation starters and high-quality question strategies to lead in meaningful conversations and interactions with their children while playing outdoors.
