ESL Level II: Tuesdays, 6-7pm CST on Zoom, US Central Time
January 16-May 14, 2024
17 Week ONLINE Session, no class March 12
For adults only
Language Proficiency Level: 2-3 (See below for more information about proficiency levels)
Course Description: Students learn to understand, pronounce, read, and write common vocabulary in simple sentences reflecting real-life situations.
Materials/Textbook: Weiss, Renee & Iannuzzi, Susan Read All About It (Starter), Oxford & Howard, Lori, Read All About It Book 1, Oxford
Registration information:
- Registering for one session will register you for all the sessions in the series.
- A completed registration form will be required to attend the class. The form will be emailed to you with the class information a few days before the class starts.
NOTE: Class information will be emailed a few days before the class date.

Language Proficiency Levels:
0 – No proficiency. At this point, no absolute knowledge of the language
1 – Elementary proficiency. You can form basic sentences, including asking and answering simple questions.
2 – Limited Working Proficiency. At this level, you can handle basic commands and limited casual conversations. You still need help with more complex conversations.
3 – Professional Working Proficiency. You can make contributions to meetings and hold conversations with customers or clients. You probably still need help understanding more subtle use of the grammar of present and past tense.
4 – Full Professional Proficiency. You can have advanced discussions on a wide range of topics like personal life, current events, and technical topics related to your field. You may occasionally misspeak or make minor mistakes, but your vocabulary is extensive, and you can carry on conversations with ease.

Niveles de dominio del idioma:
0 – Sin competencia. En este punto, ningún conocimiento absoluto del idioma.
1 – Competencia elemental. Puede formar oraciones básicas, incluso hacer y responder preguntas simples.
2 – Competencia laboral limitada. En este nivel, puede manejar comandos básicos y conversaciones informales limitadas. Todavía necesita ayuda con conversaciones más complejas.
3 – Competencia laboral profesional. Puede realizar contribuciones a reuniones y mantener conversaciones con clientes o clientes. Probablemente aún necesites ayuda para comprender el uso más sutil de la gramática del tiempo presente y pasado.
4 – Dominio profesional completo. Puede tener discusiones avanzadas sobre una amplia gama de temas como la vida personal, eventos actuales y temas técnicos relacionados con su campo. Ocasionalmente puede hablar mal o cometer errores menores, pero su vocabulario es extenso y puede mantener conversaciones con facilidad.
