The Georgetown Project’s NEST Empowerment Center is a safe place to land after the bell rings for GISD high school students. Proudly servicing students of all backgrounds — including those at-risk, homeless or living in transition — for the past 12 years, the Center offers access to basic needs, counseling, academic assistance and enrichment activities for those who attend.

The NEST is open to students from 3-7 p.m. Monday-Thursday while school is in session. Attending students participate daily in programming centered on college and career readiness, therapeutic activities and life skills.

Richarte High School and Georgetown High School students walk to the NEST after school, while East View High School students ride the bus #348 to the center. Dinner is provided each night, as well as transportation home thanks to the GISD transportation department.

Those interested in learning more about the NEST should contact Coordinator Brigid Cooley by calling 512-943-8056 or emailing Brigid. (mailto:brigid@georgetownproject.org)

Meetings, donation deliveries and tours of the center can be scheduled between 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Monday – Thursday.

Volunteer information:

Volunteers assist in daily programming by providing dinner, teaching classes and workshops to students, stocking the food pantry and hygiene closet, interacting with students one-on-one at the center and more.

Those interested in providing in-kind donations or dinners should consult the NEST wishlist and/or the Meal Provider information sheet to learn more about how to assist.

Please contact NEST Coordinator Brigid Cooley to set up donation deliveries.
